WP2: Data

This WP aims to generate the data base of climate and hydrological extremes, high resolution meteorological  and hydrological data set used as input in the hydrological models and in RCM validation, and to process the GCM and RCM outputs. This WP will be coordinated by NMA and it is divided in 3 tasks as follows:

Task 2.1: Seasonal indices of climate and hydrological extremes (NMA, INHGA). More than 20 seasonal climate and hydrological extreme indices will be calculated for the period 1961-2010  in order to be analysed in WP3; a special time series of heavy precipitation associated to flooding events over the entire Romania  will be produced.

Tasks 2.2: High resolution meteorological and hydrological data set based on satellite and radar data set and GIS techniques (NMA). Recorded data from in-situ networks will be integrated with the satellite-based information through the process of reanalysis, developing consistent algorithms in order to yield homogeneous, consistent, multivariate satellite-based products for different scales coverage (vegetation idex); very high resolution rainfall data  over 7 years with 6 min. time resolution and 1x1km spatial resolution will be produced for the selected hydrological basins;  temperature and precipitation at 1x1 km resolution, 6 hour time resolution, period 1961-2010 will be produced over Romania  using GIS technique applied to observed data.

Task 2.3: RCM and GCM outputs (NMA, INHGA). Daily data of 5 RCM simulations for temperature and precipitation for the periods 1961-2100 , monthly data of 3 GCMs for various predictors under various emission scenarios (A1B, B1, A2-stream1 simulation; A1B-stream 2) and daily data for the sea level pressure will be extracted   from the ENSEMBLE data base.
